Using the QuidProQuo Reciprocal Links Checker^TM

QuidProQuo is a very simple program to use. Validating reciprocal links is a four step process. Note that if you have the full version and a DSL connection you’ll probably be able to scan over 100 sites an hour (depending on how many of the links have been indexed in Yahoo). The lite version will take a bit longer because you are restricted to only two concurrent connection threads.

Using QuidProQuo

1. Entering Your Domain

   The process process begins by entering the domain URL of your site. Select Spider -> Enter Your Site URL from the main menu. You, will get a pop up into which you will enter your site domain.



2. Finding and Selecting Partner Sites

   Once you have entered your site domain, you’ll need to create a list of partner sites you want to scan for reciprocal links. QuidProQuo can find these sites automatically for you by scanning you entire domain or scanning a single links page on your site. Select Spider -> Select Sites to Spider -> Find on Your Website or Spider -> Select Sites to Spider -> Find on a Page… from the main menu.
   
   If you select to have QuidProQuo scan your entire domain, it will take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes for QuidProQuo to scan each page on your site and extract all of the external links. If you elected to scan a single links page, then you will need to cut and paste the URL of the links page into the dialog box that is launched by QuidProQuo. Scanning a single page should take less than two seconds. When finished, the external links found will be added to your results tab and you and ready to begin scanning your partner sites or you may now choose to manually edit the list of partner sites by selecting Spider -> Select Sites to Spider -> Edit Sites to Spider… from the main menu. Once your satisfied you have the right list of partner sites your ready to go to the next stage “Scanning Partner Sites”. Your screen should now look like this:



3. Scanning Partner Sites

   To start the scan of your partner sites, simple choose Spider -> Spider Partner Sites from the main menu. If you have a free full license for your site, you probably want to increase the number of concurrent connections to at least 8 threads because the process will go faster. The optimum number of threads depends on the bandwidth of your internet connection. If you have dial-up you’ll probably not want to exceed 2 threads, but if you have a broadband connection you can go to 8-16 threads. Your QuidProQuo screen should look something like this.
   

4. Analysing Results

   When your finished with your scan, or even if the scan is still in process, you can look at the results in the summary and detaled tabs. You can save the results at any time to an excel CSV file.

Upgrade Procedure

Upgrading to a free full license of QuidProQuo could hardly be easier. Simply place a link to http://www.webmastersloom.com on any page of your site, which is reachable from your main page (within 1-3 clicks). Then select Help -> Upgrade to a Free Full License from your Main Menu. Now select the Get Upgrade button. You will be asked to key in a list of the sites for which you are requesting an upgrade. Once you click OK, QuidProQuo will perform a scan of your site(s) to determine eligability. Note that you can continue to use QuidProQuo in “Lite” mode while it is scanning your site. When the scan is completed and the link(s) confirmed, your license status will changed to “Full” for each domain entered. See below:
